Next OSHA 10 Construction training will be held on 1/9/16 at Pioneer’s Main Office, Refresher Safety Orientation will be held on 2/6/16 at Ladore Lodge, First Aid Training will be held on 2/6/16 with 4 hr. time slots at Hawley Fire Department. Contact Safety Department with scheduling conflicts.
David Mitchell, Resource Conservationist with the Wayne Conservation District, presented an E&S and BMP presentation to Pioneer Foremen and Supervisors. Topics included: dewatering techniques, common violations, NPDES permits, inspection reporting, among others. Additional Training was presented at our Honesdale Office on more advanced topics like NPDES MS4 permit program. Here at Pioneer, we are looking ahead to greener alternatives in regards to city development and our role to improve environmental sustainability.
Pioneer held it’s mandatory Safety Day for all employees on 12/4/15 . Topics included but not limited to: Representative Speaker from the PA-1 Call System, Managing Stress, Lyme Disease, Trenching, Ladders, Hand Tools, to name a few. Employees enjoyed breakfast pastries, heavy lunch, desserts, and coffee throughout the day. Pioneer also gave out raffle tickets to each employee for a chance to win 1 of 5 guns or alternative prize. Opening and closing comments included the Genovese Syndrome; here at Pioneer everyone has the authority to initiate a STOP WORK order if the employee feels there is an unsafe act or condition. Thank you for all employees and staff making Pioneer’s Safety Day a success!
12/18/15 will be our next training session for Erosion and Sediment Control
Pioneer, Pennsylvania Environmental Council, and over 40 volunteers donated trucks, machinery, containers, and labor to clean up Illegal Dumping at Bucks Cove Hunting Club. The volunteers filled three 40 yard containers and picked up 54 tires that were along the Lackawaxen River. Good job to all involved and making Honesdale a cleaner place to live!
